Spokane, WA | September 18, 2025 – Spokane County Library District (SCLD) announces over 45 library programs in October on a variety of topics with something for every age.
FOR ADULTS
SCLD has over 30 library programs and events for adults in October, covering a variety of interests. Online
author talks include
Leigh Bardugo,
Malala Yousafzai,
Philippa Gregory, and
Michael Bungay Stanier. Classes for various
crafts and hobbies dive into cooking, genealogy, preserving memories, quilting, gardening, and more.
Options for fascinating, informative, and useful presentations and workshops cover topics such as
fire safety (all ages),
making your vote count locally,
restrictive property covenants, the
Veterans History Project,
wonderful and weird objects in museums, and
the criminalization of rural disadvantage.
Two financial workshops led by BECU educators help people
manage their money and
prevent fraud. SNAP Spokane instructors offer unbiased information about the major aspects of the
home-buying process. For anyone
searching for a job or changing career, WorkSource coaches share their expertise during drop-in hours. Find out how

When clothes and other textiles need repairs—torn jeans, fallen hems, ripped seams, small tears—they can be fixed during
Mend-It Café. Get information about physical and mental health services and pick up some free swag at the
WSU Health Education Fair at Cheney Library. Sessions for
preventing falls for older adults and
Medicare open enrollment are taking pace in October. Find a supportive atmosphere with activities for those experiencing memory loss and their caregivers during

FOR KIDS, TEENS & FAMILIES
Kids of all ages can find engaging programs at our libraries this fall. Along with weekly
Play & Learn Storytimes, early learners and families can attend the
STA Touch-a-Bus Storytime. Also, non-scary costumes are welcome at
Spooktacular Storytime.
Families and people of all ages are invited to touch a fire truck and walk through a fire safety house during the
Fire Prevention Week event.

The Case of the Missing Book and explore
Games & Crafts from Around the World, as well as treats.
Our STEAM programs for kids—focusing on science, technology, engineering, art, and math—include creating art with tin foil or yarn, building with LEGOs, and other engaging after-school activities.
Teens have the opportunity to train as volunteers for the
Veterans History Project, create useful things with
3D printing, stop by the
RPG Club for gaming adventures, and
ignite their imagination with STEAM.
